Alternative motor fuel component will help bioethanol plants

13.10.2014

fuel alternativeThe Ukrainian company Techinservice which specializes in the production of bioethanol is going to begin production of the Alternative motor fuel component (AMFC) in 2010. AMFC is a mixture of ethanol (98%), gasoline (1.5-2%) and a complex of additives. Unlike standard bioethanol, AMFC is not suitable for the production of alcoholic beverages, therefore, the control from different government agencies is much less than during the production of bioethanol.

According to Oleg Korol, Commercial Director of Techinservice, it gives free rein to the producers of biofuels a little bit, as makes it possible to get around some bureaucratic procedures during certification, production and sale of products. Moreover, the interest of oil refineries to AMFC is higher than to the "pure" bioethanol which should facilitate the sales on the domestic market.

It should be reminded that today, due to the lack of the state support, the biofuel industry in Ukraine is in full decline. "The absence of a mandatory norm of adding bioethanol to gasoline, existing tax incentives for oil refineries using biofuels, of a support for the producers of biocomponents puts the players of this market in a position when they have to rely only on themselves and invent ways that can bring some profitability to this business," Oleg Korol says.
