The state concern of spirits and alcoholic beverage industries Ukrspirt counts on the introduction of the biogas production technologies at 38 domestic distilleries in 2009-2011. As it is noted in the press release of Ukrspirt, the concern expects that biogas will replace 104 mln cubic meters or 27% of the natural gas amount consumed by these enterprises.
The concern held a meeting with the companies which could potentially implement similar projects at the distilleries. Among them are Marubeni (Japan), Biosystem Ukraine, Eco-Pererobka LLC, EcoFuel Ukraine LLC, UkrNDIspirtbioprod, Techinservice MG LLC. It was decided that each of the companies should choose the enterprises where they would introduce pilot plants for the production of biogas.
Currently, a similar pilot plant with a capacity of 1000 cubic meters per day is operated at the state-owned enterprise Luzhanskiy Experimental Distillery.
The report also notes that Ukrspirt and Marubeni have signed a protocol of intent regarding the production of biogas. According to it, the Japanese company will recover the spirits production wastes (dregs), produce biogas and ensure complete treatment of wastewater.
The State Concern Ukrspirt was created by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of June 29, 1996, On the Improvement of the Management of Spirits and Alcoholic Beverage Industries. It includes eight regional state associations of alcohol and alcoholic beverage industries, 85 state-owned enterprises and 23 associate members of different ownership forms.
The annual capacity of the enterprises of the concern for the production of spirits is 61.45 mln dal, for the production of vodka and alcoholic beverages is 35.6 mln dal and for the production of high-octane oxygen-containing additive to gasoline is 28.07 ths. tons.
