UBI Pharma-Grade Ethanol Plant

Techinservice Group designed and supplied the technological solution for UBI’s pharma-grade ethanol production plant in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The project represents the first plant of its kind in the Gulf region based on Techinservice’s proprietary OwerTech™ technology, which has been successfully applied for many years by leading ethanol producers in Europe and Ukraine.

The project scope included the supply of process and technological equipment manufactured at Techinservice’s own engineering and manufacturing facility in Ukraine, as well as the implementation of an advanced automated and robotic control system.

The OwerTech™ technology enables the production of exceptionally pure pharmaceutical-grade ethanol with impurity levels below 1 ppm, meeting the stringent quality requirements of pharmaceutical and other high-purity applications.

The plant is equipped with a highly advanced robotic control system designed to minimize human intervention and reduce the impact of operator-related factors. The system enables properly trained personnel to operate the complex process reliably and efficiently, even without extensive prior experience in operating similar installations.

The project was reviewed and highly evaluated by relevant government authorities and industrial stakeholders in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Steam consumption: ≤2.0 kg/litre of absolute alcohol
Electricity consumption: 0.8 kWh/litre of absolute alcohol, including HVAC requirements for the administrative building and process area

Acetaldehyde content: <1 ppm
Fusel oil content: <1 ppm
Permanganate test: ≥28
