The production of pharmacopoeia quality ethanol from molasses using innovative technology OWERTech™

Techinservice team has a wide experience in the production of alcohol from various raw materials, and technologies used by our company in distillation units have no analogues in the world and are advanced in terms of energy and quality indicators. The concept of this proposal is the idea of ​​a complete looping of technological streams in order to minimize the amount of wastewater, emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere and the consumption of additional resources, such as drinking water. Our team of professionals intends to apply such technological methods as:

- The advanced technology OWERTech™ in the rectification process to ensure the pharmacopoeial quality of the finished product;
- Separation of distillery vinasse for further drying and purification of the liquid fraction;
- Purification of the liquid fraction by the membrane filtration for returning to the technological process of processing raw materials (molasses dilution);
- Utilization of vinasse concentrated with molasses by combustion in a boiler to obtain additional heat energy.

The use of OWERTech™ technology, due to application of rectification outside the azeotropic points in an anhydrous medium, where intermediate and final impurities lose their specific (dual) properties, allows to obtain a finished product (food alcohol) with an impurity content close to zero:

Description of distillation by-products

Fusel alcohols or fuselol, also sometimes called fusel oils in Europe, are mixtures of several higher alcohols (those with more than 2 carbons, chiefly amyl alcohol) produced as a by-product of alcoholic fermentation. Fusel oil and fusel-oil acetates are used in the lacquer industry as high boiling point solvents. Fusel oil is a valuable ingredient in a variety of industries. Most often it is used as a solvent, including in the production of paints and varnishes. Laboratories receive a highly refined reagent from fusel oil. For example, in the dairy industry, it serves as a solvent for determining the fat content of milk and dairy products. In medicine, the components of fusel oil are used to treat the respiratory tract and the nervous system. And perfumers and confectioners get aromatic extracts from it.

Concentrate of ether-aldehyde fraction (technical alcohol) is a by-product of alcohol production, obtained during rectification, containing ethyl alcohol, ethers, aldehydes and water. Volume fraction of ethyl alcohol in the ether-aldehyde fraction, not less than 92%. Also, manufacturers of winter windscreen washers for cars use the ether-aldehyde fraction (technical alcohol) to produce their inexpensive, budget segment of the winter windscreen washer.

Fusel and technical alcohols, being highly flammable substances, can be used as fuel for boilers. They are mixed with fuel oil before being fed to the boiler, or fed by a separate nozzle to the gas boiler.
